W.o.w. do you think its to late for first timers?

So I was thinking I know a lot of people that play and I guess I could give it a second try (unless rift comes back with amazing reviews) so what do you think... does this 6 something year old game still hold up?... do you think its worth going out and buying all the expansions? Let me know... but no matter what game I own as soon as brink comes out I won't be playing anything else for along time lol
