If you gradually increased cuff pressure would diastolic pressure be when the first turbulence sounds?

If instead of measuring BP conventionally by raising cuff pressure above blood flow cut-off pressure and letting it fall until the first Korotkoff sounds appeared, the process was reversed and pressure increased from zero (or atmospheric) until laminar flow began to break down and turbulence caused noises to be heard, would diastolic pressure be just below that point?
